SRI VENKATESWARA VETERINARY UNIVERSITY 

Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University is the state university located at Tirupati, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, India. It was established in 2005 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and focuses on veterinary studies. 

Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University offers various Undergraduate (UG) programs like ad B.Sc, B.V.Sc and B.Tech and Postgraduate (PG) programs such as M.Tech, MS, M.Sc and M.V.Sc along with the Ph. D programs in different branches of Veterinary, Dairy and Fishery Sciences, to the promote farmer oriented and need-based research to develop the harvest and post-harvest technologies. 

Selection in all the bachelor’s courses will be done on the basis of an entrance examination of Andhra Pradesh called EAMCET. Admission to M.F.Sc. and M.Tech will depend on the marks in the B.F.Sc/B.Tech(Dairy) which will be 30% of the total weightage and on the performance in PG Entrance test which will be 70% of the total weightage. 

The Ph.D. selection will be done on the basis of the marks in the entrance exam, master’s degree, bachelor’s degree and interview in the ratio 50:20:10:20. 

SVVU Admissions:

·         Admission to B.Tech, B.Sc. (Hons.), B.V.Sc. and B.Tech. programs is done through the state-level entrance test known as AP-EAMCET.

·         Admission to the postgraduate courses is done through the comprehensive Entrance test followed by the counseling round conducted by the university.

·         Students who are eligible for the Ph.D. program, need to sit for an entrance test conducted by the University and the final merit list will be prepared considering the marks obtained by the students in the entrance test as well as the previous qualifying examination.

·        Fill the application form perfectly with the required detail attach all the self-attested copies along with the counter foil of the UTR no. /Transaction I.D. of the registration fee paid.

The registration fee Is INR 1,100/- for the general category of Candidates. For SC/ST/PH candidates, the registration fee in INR 550/-. This fee can be paid only via the online mode, preferably in Andhra Bank, or any other bank, which is nationalized. A/C details are  as mentioned below:-

Duration: 4 years

Eligibility: 10+2 with the Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English subjects

Specializations: Dairy technology

B.Sc (Hons.)       

Duration: 3 years

Eligibility: 50% marks in 10+2 or Two Year Intermediate examination with the following subjects mainly the English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology

Specializations: Agriculture, Horticulture

B.V.Sc & AH       

Duration: 5 ½ years

Eligibility: 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 with the Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English subjects. For SC & ST candidates 5% less than that prescribed for the  general category i.e. 47.5%

Specializations: N/A

B.F.Sc   

Duration: 4 years

Eligibility: 10+2 with the Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English subjects

Specializations: Fishery science

M.Tech

Duration: 2 years

Eligibility: B.Tech (Dairying or Dairy Technology B.Sc (Dairy Technology) with secured minimum OGPA of 6.00/10.00 for general category (for SC/ST/PH-5.00/10.00) or 2.50/4.00 for the general category (2.00/4.00 in case of SC/ST/PH ) or 60% marks

M.V.Sc 

Duration: 2 years

Eligibility: B.V.Sc and A.H with the secured minimum OGPA of 6.00/10.00 for the general category (for SC/ST/PH-5.00/10.00) or 2.50/4.00 for the  general category (2.00/4.00 in case of SC/ST/PH ) or 60% marks

M.F.Sc 

Duration: 2 Years

Eligibility: B.F.Sc from the State Agricultural Universities with a minimum OGPA of 6.00/10.00 for general category (for SC/ST/PH-5.00/10.00) or 2.50/4.00 for the general category (2.00/4.00 in case of SC/ST/PH ) or 60% marks (for SC or ST/PH-55%)

Specializations: Aquaculture, Fish processing technology, Fishery resource management, and Aquatic environment management, Aquatic animal health management,  Fish processing technology

PhD

Duration: 3 years

Eligibility: Master’s degree in the relevant discipline

Specializations: Animal and genetics breeding, Animal nutrition, Livestock production management, Livestock product technology, Poultry science, Veterinary anatomy, Veterinary and  animal husbandry extension education, Veterinary Biochemistry, Veterinary biotechnology, Veterinary gynecology and obstetrics, Veterinary medicines, Veterinary microbiology, Veterinary parasitology, Veterinary pathology, Veterinary pharmacology & toxicology, Veterinary physiology, Veterinary public health and epidemiology, Veterinary surgery and radiology, Aquaculture, Aquatic animal health management, and Fisheries recourse management. 

SVVU Placements:

The SVVU has their Placement cell which ensures that the students get placed in suitable companies, at suitable positions. The 2019 session of the SVVU concluded with the record of 70%. The companies which come to the campus of the SVVU are like Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro, etc.

SVVU Scholarships:

·         The State Government provided a scholarship of the 962/- per month to the BC and 1200/- per month to the SC & ST students besides reimbursing tuition and special fee to all eligible candidates including economically backward and minority students.

·         In all, 403 students availed of scholarships to the tune of 38.7 lakhs during the year.

·         National Talent Scholarship of 1000/- per month provided by ICAR, New Delhi was sanctioned to 42 candidates of other state students admitted under all the India quota of VCI/ICAR and the amount sanctioned was 4.20 lakhs. 

SVVU Facilities:

Hostel: The University has separate hostels for the boys & girls. Both the hostels have their own separate canteen facility. Facilities in the hostels were improved by establishing modern kitchen with steam cooking facility and by providing the dining tables, chairs, utensils etc., for the mess. Cots, ceiling fans, and tables were provided in the rooms. Accommodation was provided to the parents, friends and visiting teachers. 

Auditorium: SVVU has huge auditorium, which is used for any conference, events, convocation,  and any special functions etc. 

Computer center and Placement cell: Each college has a computer center to provide internet and other services to the staff and candidates. At CVSc, Tirupati 26 computers are available with the internet facility. At CVSc, Proddatur the library has 21 terminals with a server for providing a digital library. At NTR CVSc, Gannavaram there are 32 terminals with internet connectivity. 

Library: The libraries in the constituent colleges of the university have a good collection of about 25,000 books, 70 National Journals, 54 International Journals, 138 Periodicals and Monthly Journals, 9,074 back volumes, 1851 Thesis of which 610 have been digitalized and 238 video lessons. 

In addition, facilities such as internet access, CD-ROM search services (Database services), and reprography services, literature search using EBSCOHOST and Science Direct are available. Web OPAC Data Entry, Bar Coding, Labeling, Closed Circuit TV Cameras, and Air Conditioners, Automation and Solar Inverters etc., are available in the Libraries. About 80 to 90% of library functions like as purchase, lending etc., have been computerized.
